<라후엘라(Rajuela) 주택>은, 시공이 잘 되었음에도 많은 창과 높은 층고, 지나치게 사용된 흰색 때문에 유지보수에 손이 많이 가는 현대 주택에 살고있던 나이든 건축주의 요구에서 시작한다. 초기 계획은 유지보수가 필요 없는 재료들을 활용하고, 나이든 건축주에게 더욱 친근한 스케일과 유지보수가 필요 없는 외부 공간을 설정하고, 이전 주택에 있던 완벽한 ‘정원’을 대체하는 열대기후에 적합한 환경을 만들어 편히 살만한 집을 만든다는 아이디어에서 출발한다. 주택의 진입은 중첩하는 일련의 벽체들을 따라 홀로 들어가는 동선으로 이뤄진다. 이어서 로비를 통과하면, 거실과 식당과 주방이 있는 공간(주방은 작은 검정색 화강석 벽체를 통해 거실과 분리된다)으로 진입하면서 천장고가 두 배로 늘어난다. 이렇게 연속되는 커다란 실내 공간은 훨씬 더 인간적인 스케일의 테라스와 정원으로 확장하며, 밝은 조명과 함께 통합되면서도 햇빛을 차단하는 공간을 만들어낸다. 이 주택의 물성은 몇 가지 종류의 석재로 이루어져 아주 간소하다. 벽체는‘ 라후엘라’라는 유카탄(Yucatan) 반도의 전통에 기인하는 석재로 덮었는데, 질감을 만들어내는 작은 돌 조각들은 예리한 조각들로 만들었음에도 명암효과로 인해 부드러우면서 흥미로운 외관을 나타낸다. 바닥에도 석재(대리석)를 썼는데, 실내는 외부보다 광택 있는 종류로 마감했다. 주택의 나머지 부분은 목재와 화강석이 대비를 이루도록 백색으로 덮었다. 글: 무뇨스 아르키텍토스 아소시아도스 [Rajuela house] arises from the need of an elder person living in a contemporary house with good manufacturing, but at the same time involving a lot of maintenance by the large number of windows, high ceilings and excessive use of white. The schema comes from the idea of creating an easy-living home, using materials that do not require maintenance, with a scale much more friendly and welcoming to a person of the elderly and with outdoor spaces that do not require much maintenance, wanting to create a much more tropical environment, replacing that perfect “garden” that she had in her previous home. Access to the House is through a series of overlapping walls that direct you to the hall. Moving on, through the lobby, we enter to a double height that contains the living, eating and cooking (the kitchen separated from the living room by a low wall of black granite), creating a large continuous space that expands all the way to the terrace with a much more humanized scale and extends into the garden, this being an extension of the interior. Generating an integrated and enlightened space yet protected from the sun. The materiality of the house is very simple, it consists of stone in several versions. The walls are covered with a stone taken from the Yucatan tradition called “Rajuela”, which consist in covering the walls with small pieces of stone creating a texture, which despite being made out of sharp pieces of stone, has a smooth and extremely interesting appearance because of the light and shadow game it creates. The flooring are also made of stone(Marble), using in the interior a more polished version than the exteriors, the rest of the house is a white covering where wood and granite serve as contrast elements.
