: idea PROJECT : Art House. 500 + 1 Architect: Wojciech Cebula

이 프로젝트의 개념은 베를린과 베를린 장벽, 그리고 베를린 시의 역사에서 예술 공동체가 행한 역할을 연구한 결과물이다. <아트 하우스. 500+1>은 단순히 건물이 아니라, 상징성과 불법 거주 문화에 기초한 하나의 선언이다. 건물을 설계하면서, 작품이 결국 주민들과 함께 변화하게 될 순수한 캔버스가 되길 원했다. 따라서 주민들에게 다양한 시나리오들을 실현하고 변화시킬 가능성을 제공할 토대를 만들기로 결정했다. 건물 자체를 3x3m 모듈로 구성함으로써, 3가지의 주요 기능 영역들로 구분된 가변적인 공간을 만들어낼 수 있었다. 첫 번째 영역은 건물로 향하는 경로가 된 녹지 공간인 목초지다. 이를 만들게 된 이유는 가능한 한 많은 나무와 녹지 공간을 보존하는 동시에, 만남이나 사건이 일어나기에 완벽한 공간을 만들고 싶었기 때문이다. 게다가 도시철도 역사와 바, 레스토랑이 가까이 위치하고 있어서, 1층 평면을 자유롭게 풀어 새로운 보행로와 자전거 도로를 만들었다. 여기서 유일한 건축적 요소는 구조물을 떠받치는 백색의 기둥들이며, 아울러 설계한 자작나무 숲은 반체제적 저항의 상징으로서 사용자들에게 숲 속에 있는 듯한 느낌을 준다. 또한 이런 요소들은 건물의 입구인 주 계단으로 사용자를 안내한다. 여기에 비상계단과 엘리베이터도 계획되었다. 두 번째 기능 영역은 지상 6m 높이에 위치하는 공개공간으로, 갤러리와 구내식당, 작업장, 실내 마켓, 특수 설계한 가구를 갖춘 서비스 구역이다. 이 높이에서는 유리 입면을 통해 주변을 막힘 없이 바라볼 수 있는데, 유리 입면은 천창과 함께 필요한 양의 자연광을 유입 시킨다. 마지막으로 세 번째 기능 영역은 주민 전용으로 1층보다 높은 곳에 설계했는데, 이는 사적인 커뮤니티 공간을 보장하고 교통 소음을 차단하기 위해서다. 하지만 이곳에는 전형적인 아파트 구획이 전혀 없기 때문에 전형적인 생활영역이 아니다. 그 대신 사용자들은 욕실과 각기 연결된 3x3m 모듈을 사용할 수 있는데, 한 사람당 하나의 모듈이 제공되어 그 구성은 무한히 변화시킬 수 있다. 게다가 모든 단일 생활 모듈은 자연광이 드는 작은 안뜰과 연결된다. 주방과 거실 등의 공간은 공용 공간으로 설계되었으며, 사용자들은 각자의 모듈로 갈 때마다 이러한 공용 공간을 통과한다. 이 공간의 또 다른 특징은 각각의 모듈마다 사람들이 활용할 수 있는 문틀과 문이 4개씩 있다는 것이며, 건물 전체적으로 총 500개에 이른다. 여기에 영감을 준 것은 베를린에서 일어나는 강력한 불법 거주 문화인데, 이는 하나의 공동체를 만드는 데 기초를 두고 있다. 이 프로젝트에서도 상황은 동일하다. 사용자는 자기만의 공간을 점유할 수 있고, 각각의 공간은 모듈을 함께 연결하면 금세 확장시킬 수 있다. 게다가 각 모듈은 하루나 한 주, 한 달, 혹은 1년간 점유할 수 있다. 그 기간은 사용자 각각의 필요에 따라 달라진다. 여기서 문은 또 하나의 성격을 갖는다. 그것은 베를린 장벽을 상징하지만, 사람들을 나누는 게 아니라 서로가 예술과 공간을 통해 연결될 수 있게 한다. <아트 하우스. 500+1>은 주민들을 위한 토대라고 봐야 한다. 즉 주민들의 필요에 따라 무엇이든 만들고 변형할 수 있으며, 사람들이 어떤 방해도 없이 스스로 원하는 삶의 방식을 결정할 수 있게 해주는 장소인 셈이다. 글: 뵈치에흐 체불라 The idea of the project is an effect of the research about Berlin, The Berlin Wall and a role of artistic community in the history of the city. [Art House. 500+1] is not only a building, but rather a manifesto, based on the symbolism and squat culture. While designing a building I wanted it to be like pure canvas, which would eventually change together with its residents. Because of that I decided to create a base, which would give residents a possibility of realising and transforming different scenarios. Building itself is organized on the 3x3m module, which allowed me to create a flexible space, divided into three main functional areas. First it is a green space - a meadow - which became a path to the building. Main reason why I decided to create it was the fact, that I wanted to save as much of the trees and green spaces as possible, creating at the same time a perfect space for meetings or events. Moreover, because of the close location of the city railway station, bars and restaurants, by freeing the ground floor, new walking and cycling paths has been created. The only architectural element here are white pillars, that support the construction and, together with designed birch grove, which is a symbol of fighting against regime, give users a feeling of being in the forest. Those elements also lead users to the main staircase which is the entrance to the building. Here emergency staircases and elevators were also organized. Second functional area, localized at the level +6m is the open space, services area, which contains gallery, cafeteria, workshops and indoor market, with specially designed furniture. At this level users have a perfect view at the surroundings, through glass facades, which ? together with skylights ? provide a needed amount of daylight. At last, third functional space are designed for residents only, localized above the ground, in order to secure private community space and avoid traffic noise. However it is not a typical living area, because there are no regular apartments. Instead of that users can use 3x3m modules - each with an access to the bathroom - where one module is provided for one person and can be organized in unlimited variations. What is more every single living module has access to small indoor patio, which provides daylight. Spaces such as kitchen, living room, etc. have been designed as common spaces, through which users have to walk whenever, they go to their module. Another non-typical thing about this space is the fact that each module has four frames/ doors that allow people to access it ? together 500 doors in the building. The inspiration was the strong squat culture that occurs in Berlin, which is based on creating a community. In this project, we have the same situation ? user can have his/hers own space, which within seconds can be extended by connecting modules together. What is more, each module can be occupied for 1 day, week, month or year ? it only depends on the needs of the users. Doors have also another nature ? they symbolize the Berlin Wall, but instead of dividing people, they allow them to connect with each other, to connect through art and space. [Art house. 500+1] indeed should be seen as a base for residents, a place where anything can be created and transformed according to their needs, letting people decide how they want to live, without any interruption.
