보육학교 증축 알리에스 드 샤반느(Allies de Chavannes) 보육학교의 증축 디자인은 풍경 속의 맥락을 끌어와 대지에 통합한다. 증축된 세 동의 신관은 구관의 길이 방향 동선과 연결되는데, 각 동을 별개의 파빌리온처럼 인식할 수 있도록 연결되었다. 구관은 재구성되어 학교의 중심 축을 이룬다. 두 유형의 금속 외장재, 즉 아연도금강판과 흑색아연이 두드러져 구관과 시각적으로 구분되는 신관 동들은 기존 학교 기능과 조화를 이루는 가운데 유동성과 프로그램 구성을 보장하도록 수목들 사이에 합리적으로 배치되어, 주변의 식생을 내다볼 수 있는 시야를 제공한다. 강재로 된 기둥 위에 올려진 구조로 각 공간마다 다양한 방향으로 창이 난 신관에서, 학생들은 이 학교가 나무 위의 오두막이라고 생각할 것이다! 글: 그랄 아키텍쳐 The design for the extension of the Allies de Chavannes nursery school draws on its context within the landscape and its integration within the site. The three new volumes that house the extension connect to the longitudinal circulation of the existing building in such a way as to allow them to be perceived as separate pavilions. The existing building is reconfigured to become the school’s spine. Distinguished by two types of metal cladding - galvanized steel and anthracite zinc - the new volumes provide a visible distinction between the original building and its extension. The new volumes are organized to ensure fluidity and a programmatic organization in harmony with the existing functioning of the school, logically inserted between the trees and providing views of the surrounding vegetation. Elevated on steel stilts and with facade openings offering each space a variety of orientations, the extensions allow pupils to imagine that their school is a tree house! Written by Graal Architecture 이 프로젝트에서 금속을 주재료로 사용한 이유는 무엇이며, 사용된 금속의 종류와 그 특성에 대해 설명해달라. 조립을 쉽게 하고 상부구조 시공에 드는 시간을 줄이고자 금속 구조를 선택했다. 건물의 시공은 사람들이 사용 중인 상태를 가정하여 구성되었다. 외장재로는 강재와 아연을 선택했는데, 경제적 이유와 충격에 견디는 속성 때문이기도 하다. 작품의 개념, 건축가의 의도, 주제 표현 등을 위해 금속의 물성, 느낌 또는 디테일이 작품에서 어떤 역할을 하는가? 우리는‘ 지붕 덮인 마당(preau)’을 만들기 위해, 주 출입구 위에 캔틸레버 구조를 활용하는 (일종의 출입 영역을 만드는) 아이디어가 맘에 들었다. 금속 구조는 이런 종류의 디테일 개념을 적용하기에 유리하다. 사실 유치원을 금속으로 덮는 사례는 일반적이지 않다. 하지만 우리는 디테일과 용도에 근거하여 동시에 생각한다면 공적 조건에서도 거친 재료를 쓸 수 있다는 걸 보여주고 싶었다. 금속과 같이 사용하기 좋은 재료는 어떤 것이 있으며, 어떤 시너지 효과가 있는가? 우리는 디테일을 잘 만들 경우 서로 다른 재료들 사이의 모순이 정말 좋은 효과를 낼 수 있다고 생각 한다. 금속과 목재의 결합이 단적인 사례인데, 우리는 차갑고 가볍고 단단한 재료인 금속을 따뜻하고 무겁고 부드러운 재료인 목재로 전환한다. 현재 주목하고 있는 재료는 어떤 것이며, 앞으로 주목 받을 재료는 무엇이라 생각하나? 우리는 확신컨대 어떤 건축 개념도 미학적 선택으로만 결정되지 않으며, 구조적 탐구에 근거해 프로 그램의 맥락을 고려함으로써 도출된다고 본다. 인터뷰이: 그랄 아키텍쳐 Is there any particular reason for using Metal as main material for this project? And what types of Metal have you used in this project, and what general properties do they have? We choose metal structure to facilitate the assembling and the superstructure construction time. The construction on the building was organized in people occupied conditions. For the cladding we decided to use steel and zinc for economic reasons and for its shock resistance. How did the materiality, feeling and details of Metal affect the project in terms of concept, the intention of architect and its presentation? For the “preau” we liked the idea to have a cantilevered above de main entry (create a kind of threshold). The metal structure facilitates this kind of details conception. Metal cladding is not really usual for a nursery school. Our intention was to show that we can use also a rough material in public condition if we think from the detail and the use at the same time! What materials are good to be used with Metal, and what synergetic effects can occur by using them together? We find the contradiction between materials can give a really good effect if the details are well made. Metal-wood is a merely example: we switch from a cold-light-hard material to a warmheavy- soft one. What material are you looking at now? And do you think what material will get much attention in the future? We are convinced that any building conception is not determinate from esthetics choices, but they are leaching from a contextual lecture of the program of from a structural investigation.
