의료 센터 + 조경 & 82 주차시설 시골 지역의 전원 공동체는 인구 감소에 대응하기 위해, 의료 전문가들이 시골에 머무르고 싶어할 만큼 매력적인 업무 환경을 제공하고자 한다. 이 프로젝트는 ‘슈네의 테라스(Les terrasses de la Chesnaie)’라 불리는 이곳에 적절히 자리잡기 위해 노제(Nozay)의 지역 풍경을 재해석한다. 낮은 위치에 있는 도심과 물리적·시각적으로 연결되는 건물은 입지상 기존의 경사를 활용하며, 주차구역을 사무공간 아래에 둠으로써 더욱 자유로운 풍경을 조성한다. 건물은 지형과 재료를 통해 주변 환경과 통합이 이루어진다. 지붕은 주변 전원주택들의 박공 지붕에서 직접 영감을 받았다. 노제의 푸른 석재를 재해석하여 적용했으며, 건물의 주각(pedestal)을 덮는 푸른 석재가 바닥에서는 공공 공간의 포장재가 되어 슬레이트 박편(薄片)의 형태를 취한다. 건물은 녹청이 일어나기 전 단계의 아연으로 만들어진 단일체이다. 지붕의 물성은 입면으로도 이어진다. 각 아연 뿔의 끝을 잘라 만든 천창은 부드럽고 아늑한 빛을 유입시키고 실내 공간의 자연 환기를 가능케 한다. 생물기후학적 접근법을 따르는 이 건물은 깔끔하고 간결하다. 풍경과 대비되는 불분명한 경계를 이루면서도 예리한 모서리들과 수직 차양 시스템을 통해 윤곽을 드러낸다. 달리 말해, 이 프로젝트는 물질을 노제의 천연 환경과 결합한다. 의료동과 사무동은 모두 하나의 안뜰을 중심으로 구성된다. 거대한 형태에서 만들어진 양극산화 알루미늄으로 마감된 로지아(loggia) 형식의 개구부는 모든 방향으로 시야를 확보한다. 순환동선의 끝에 위치하는 로지아들은 실내 공간에서 방향 감각을 높여준다. 글 : a+ 사무엘델마스 이 프로젝트에서 금속을 주재료로 사용한 이유는 무엇이며, 사용된 금속의 종류와 그 특성에 대해 설명해달라. 기존의 슬레이트 지붕의 색과 형태을 재해석하기 위해 아연을 선택했다. 그 중에서도 진회색의 아연을 사용했다. 이 재료는 매우 오래가고, 단단하며, 유연성도 충분해서 지금의 지붕 형태를 얻을 수 있었다. 게다가 예리한 모서리와 개구부를 만들 수 있을 만큼 강도도 충분히 크다. 건축적인 면에서는, 물에 젖을 때 빛과의 상호작용이 일어나는 재료다. 금속을 다루는 건축물의 설계, 시공 과정의 주안점은 무엇이라고 생각하는가? 정확한 접합을 실현할 수 있도록 엄밀한 주의를 기울여야 한다. 약간의 현장조정 시간 동안, 과연 만족스럽고 적절하며 정갈한 결과를 얻었는지 살펴봐야 한다. 어떤 제조회사를 선택하는가도 핵심적인 문제다. 작품의 개념, 건축가의 의도, 주제 표현 등을 위해 금속의 물성, 느낌 또는 디테일이 작품에서 어떤 역할을 하는가? 우리는 재료로 지붕과 입면의 통일성을 조성할 수 있었으며, 금속 모서리들의 효과로 단일체(monolithic)의 인상을 주려고 했다. 금속과 같이 사용하기 좋은 재료는 어떤 것이 있으며, 어떤 시너지 효과가 있는가? 우리는 석재를 골랐는데, 이것은 금속의 매끈함과 반대로 느낌이 거칠지만 햇볕에서나 우천시에나 빛과 그림자의 효과로 인해 금속을 보완하는 성격이 있다. 석재는 소박하고 고전적인 재료이며, 이와 대비되는 산업 재료는 전통적 맥락에서 현대적 정체성을 보장한다. 현재 주목하고 있는 재료는 어떤 것이며, 앞으로 주목 받을 재료는 무엇이라 생각하나? 프로젝트를 할 때마다 각기 특수한 재료를 써보려고 시도한다. 인터뷰이: 사무엘 델마스 TIn reaction to the depopulation of the countryside, rural communities wish to take care of their healthcare professionals, encouraging them to stay in the country by offering appealing work environments. The project reinterprets Nozay’s regional landscape, in order to be properly inserted in its location named “Les terrasses de la Chesnaie”. The project is physically and visually connected to the town center, located lower. Its position utilizes the existent slope, by absorbing the parking area under the office space, to further liberate the landscape. The project is integrated to the environment by its topography and materiality. The roof work is directly inspired by the gable roofs of the surrounding country houses. Nozay’s blue stone is reinterpreted and adapted to the project. It covers the building’s pedestal and turns into the pavement of the public space in the form of thin slices of slate. The building is a monolith of pre-patinated zinc. The roof’s materiality is pursued onto the facade. Each zinc cone is truncated by a skylight, which provides a soft and intimate light and a natural ventilation of the interior space. Following a bioclimatic approach, the architecture is clean and compact. The landscape is contrasted by the unclear limits of the building, which are outlined by the skin’s spikes and the vertical sun shading system. In other words, the project combines the mineral and natural environment of Nozay. Both, healthcare and office units, are organized around a courtyard. The openings, sculpted into the monolith in the form of an anodized aluminum loggia, ensure a visual perspective in every direction. Positioned at the end of the circulation, these loggias facilitate orientation in space. Written by a+ samueldelmas Is there any particular reason for using Metal as main material for this project? And what types of Metal have you used in this project, and what general properties do they have? We selected the zinc due to re-interpretation of the existing slate roofs (colour + form of the roof). We used the anthracite zinc. This material is very durable, solid and enough flexible so we could achieve the form of the roofs, but at the same time strong enough to allow us to have sharp edges and cuts. Architecturally, the material plays with light when it’s wet. About what should we be careful when designing and undertaking construction with Metal? We need the rigour in the realization to achieve assembly precision. And a little bit of time for on-site adjustments, to see if we achieved a satisfying, proper and neat result. The selection of the company is fundamental. How did the materiality, feeling and details of Metal affect the project in terms of concept, the intention of architect and its presentation? The material enabled us to create unity between the roof and the facade with a play of ridges in order to give a monolithic appearance. What materials are good to be used with Metal, and what synergetic effects can occur by using them together? We selected to use the stone, opposition between roughness and smoothness, but complementary to the metal thanks to the game of light and shadows generated in the sun or rain. The stone is a rustic and classic material, opposed to an industrial material, which ensures a contemporary identity in traditional context. What material are you looking at now?
