런던 박물관 새로운 <런던(London) 박물관>은 바비칸(Barbican) 밑에서 출현하여 런던 거리 쪽으로 침투해 들어가는 형태로 지어질 예정이다. 어류와 가금, 일반잡화를 취급하는 시장들로 이루어진 기존 단지는 도시의 역사적이고 건축적인 단면을 이룬다. 빅토리아풍(Victorian)과 근대풍이 만나고, 벽돌과 주철이 만나며, 석판과 유리가 만난다. 건축가는 건물의 건축적 정체성을 분명히 하기 위한 단일화보다, 건축과 역사에서 런던 시만큼이나 풍부한 런던 시립 박물관을 만들기 위한 다양성의 탐구를 제안한다. 새로 더해진 건축은 기존의 누적된 건축적 지층에 감성적 층위를 더함으로써 단지의 맥을 이어나갈 것이다. 구석구석 날것의 아름다움과 종잡을 수 없는 매력이 깃든 런던 시는 런던만의 박물관을 위한 다양한 틀을 조성할 것이다. 박물관 속의 도시이자, 도시 속의 박물관으로서 말이다. 글 제공: 빅(BIG) The new [Museum of London] is about to emerge from underneath the Barbican to invade and inhabit the streets of London. The existing complex formed by the Fish, Poultry and General markets constitutes a historical and architectural cross section of the city: Victorian meets modern, brick meets cast iron, slate meets glass. Rather than trying to unify the distinct architectural identities of the buildings, we propose to explore their diversity to create a museum of the city of London that is as rich in architecture and history as the city itself. The new architectural additions will continue the legacy of the complex by adding an authentic layer of sensibility to the existing strata of architectural sediments. The city of London with all nooks and crannies, raw beauty and quirky charm, will form the diverse frame for its own museum. The city in the museum and the museum in the city. Text offer: BIG
